Equipment: All soccer participants must wear shin-guards at all times during both practices and games. Soccer cleats are also important to prevent slipping and falling, however, they are not mandatory. Be sure your child wears the proper attire to engage in the physical activities that come with the game of soccer. Finally, please always bring a water bottle or thirst quencher of some kind, especially during the summer weather.
Teams: The soccer program is open to participants ages 4-12. The participants will be assigned to a team with a coach along with a team parent. The leagues will be dertmined by the number of participants that register by May 31, 2010. Team rosters and schedules will be completed and distributed within three weeks of the registration deadline.
Location: Soccer games and practices will be held at both Town Center Park (Park at the corner of Tyrrell and Columbia just north of Rt. 72 on the right side) and Memorial Park (off of Tyrrell near I-90). Team will alternate at both sites.
Coaches: We are looking for enthusiastic people to coach our teams! If you want to help make a difference in a child's life, please contact Danny or Sabrina for a time to meet. An initial interview, background check and training is required for all coaches.
The coaches assigned to each team have volunteered their time to lead participants in weekly practices and games. The role of the coahces is to teach the players the game of soccer while demonstrating the YMCA values of Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility. The coaches are committed to attending practices and games on time and prepared as well as ensuring that their team exhibits the YMCA character values and follows the rules of the program. Coaches and team parents are also responsible for communicating schedule information or changes to participants and families.
Please remember, coaches are volunteers. They are putting a lot of time and effort into your child's team. Please respect the coaches and their decisions. If for some reason you are ever dissatisfied with a coach for any reason, please contact Danny Rubio at 847-888-7410 x39, so the situation can be reviewed and resolved.
Parent Participation: This league is designed to be a family program. Parents are encouraged to come to all games, cheer on all the children and get involved. Parents are expected to be respectful to coaches, participants and other parents and demonstrate sportsmanlike conduct at all times.
