Day Camp

2010 Gilberts Family Branch YMCA Summer Day Camp

The YMCA provides children with summer adventures that promote a healthy spirit, mind and body.  Children will spend their time indoors and outdoors as experienced staff lead campers in a wide variety of activities each day, including arts and crafts, games, sports, songs, swimming and weekly off-site field trips (traditional & specialty camps only).

Our camp is American Camp Association (ACA) accredited, which means that we maintain the highest standards regarding program quality.  We believe the most important elements of a positive day camp experiences are the safety and well-being of your child.  That’s why our camps have the following:

  • Professionally and thoroughly trained staff including CPR/First Aid, Emergency Procedures, Child Abuse Prevention Trainings and more.
  • Our core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.

TRADITIONAL DAY CAMPS

Ages: 5-12 years (entering Kindergarten through 6th grade)

Camp Hours:  8:30 am – 4:30 pm with extended care hours 7-8:30 am and 4:30-6:00 pm

Description:  Enjoy summer by meeting new friends and enjoying activities in the summer sun!  Our day camps promote healthy spirit, mind and body through games, crafts, songs, sports, weekly trips, and most importantly relationships.  We believe it is important for children of all ages to build relationships with fellow campers as well and our staff.  Campers will be placed in groups with similar aged campers according to our ratios.  Our goal is to help all campers grow in Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility.  Campers should bring a morning and afternoon snack.  This camp will be held all weeks.

LEADERSHIP CAMPS
Leader-In-Training
Ages: 13-15 (entering grades 7, 8, 9)
Description:  The Leaders-in-Training program is designed as a bridge for young people between camper and counselor.  It is not simply camp for older kids, not is it a guarantee for a job in the future.  It is the opportunity for those young people who want to further develop their leadership skills, and learn what it is like to be a counselor.  LITs will be paired up with a seasoned counselor and assist him/her in leading a group of campers.  LITs will also have LIT only time where they work on teambuilding and program planning.  LITs must submit a separate application as well as a letter of recommendation from a teacher, coach, paster, etc.  LITs must attend camp for a minimum of 4 full weeks throughout the summer.
